The Process Moves On The transfer of 52% of the assets and telecommunications infrastructure of the Puerto Rico Telephone Company to América Móvil is in process on behalf of the approval of the Federal Telecommunications Commission. The process has been creating a series of comments and petitions for denial from several segments of the industry, including government organizations as well as legislators. Among the organizations presenting their documents are: the Sprint/Nextel Corporation with a comment, Telefónica de Larga Distancia with the presentation of a petition to deny, the Centennial Communications Corp. with the presentation of a petition to deny, and WorldNet Telecommunications, Inc. with the presentation of a petition to deny. From the government of Puerto Rico, comments have been presented by the Telecommunications Regulatory Board that presented a petition to deny, and from the President of the Senate of Puerto Rico with a presentation of a motion to address public interest. A request to defer action has been presented by the Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US Department of Homeland Security.
