EDIC College targets top medical placement
Students highly trained to enter medical/technical industry here and in the states

By Arthur Medina

In any given day in any given newspaper both in Puerto Rico and in the United States, we find employment ads targeted to health technicians and secretaries.

Often, this demand is filled by placing these same ads in distant far away locations and pirating prize candidates who have responded to these ads. Recent health/technical graduates or those with experience are carted away and put to work immediately.

In Caguas, Puerto Rico, a junior college was founded some 19 years ago to prepare men and women to enter the medical/technical industry. This institute is called EDIC College, which stands for Economic Development Industry and Commerce. “The company initially started out as a consulting firm, but we decided to open a school and offered education in the health/technical fields. It was an excellent decision. The consulting firm lasted two years, and then gave way to the educational insitituion,” says José A. Cartagena.
